On 5th-7th September 2019 fourth edition of PHPers Summit 2019 took place. PHPers Summit is the largest PHP conference in Poland and is hosted annually in Poznań International Fair (called shortly MTP from Polish abbreviation). This year more than thousand people attended 25 lectures and 8 workshops across three-day span. Event location was really enormous - MTP is a complex of 15 spacious, air-conditioned exhibition halls, which create favourable conditions for business talks. One of the hall (hall C) was used by PHPers team to host the event. Our team joined it and prepared little break-through of discussed topics.

5th September - $day[0]

First day consisted only of workshops that took place in OMEGA office building. Covered topics were as follow: Strategic DDD + EventStorming (led by Mariusz Gil), Realtime in PHP with Firestore (led by Szymon Skowroński and Leszek Prabucki), Simulation Scrum Game about team responsibility (led by Agata Sobek-Kreft), Going framework-agnostic with BDD (led by Dariusz Drobisz). Unfortunately we have missed a chance to join any of the workshops and arrived in Poznań on the next day.

6th September - $day[1]

Conference started with the opening by Leszek Krupiński and afterwards lectures kicked off on the two main tracks (agenda can be found here). Suprisingly enough, there also was one additional hidden track that was led completely by volunteers that have written their topic + ETA on the whiteboard. This board was quickly filled and besides serious topics some participants couldn’t miss a chance to joke around.

7th September - $day[2]

On the last day of the conference bunch of interesting cases were presented. Using GraphQL in ecommerce? Elasticsearch and quality of the search result for 40 million users? Usage of Magento Functional Testing Framework? You have it all. Participants could also find plenty of other interesting things to do besides attending lectures. You could get a coffee, cookies, thai ice cream, play pinball or flappy birds. There was also pong table and VR headset available to use.

PHPers Summit 2019 was a conference where you could learn more about PHP use cases in general and a place to meet and network with community. In case you missed it this year - see you there in 2020!
